OLD ORCHARD BEACH, Maine– Maine’s Old Orchard Beach has landed a baseball team for its refurbished ballpark, once lauded as one of the prettiest minor league baseball parks in the land.

The Town Council voted Tuesday night to enter into an agreement with the Lowell All-Americans Baseball Club in which the team will play 21 home games at The Ballpark during June and July.

The Portland Press Herald reports team president and general manager Doug Ayotte says there’ll be a contest to rename the team, which is part of the New England Collegiate Baseball League. Players are scouted by Major League teams.

The Ballpark was home the Maine Guides and Maine Phillies before falling into disrepair after it lost its minor league affiliate after the 1988 season.
