Fans often wait hours before and after games to get an autograph from their favorite player or coach. Over the weekend, Lancaster Barnstormers manager Butch Hobson decided to shake things up a little and start signing memorabilia in the middle of an inning.

After a close call in the fourth inning of an Atlantic League game, Hobson proceeded to argue with the first base umpire. After being ejected from the game, Hobson reacted in an intriguing way. Instead of throwing a fit, Hobson pulled first base out of the ground, grabbed a pen and signed the base for a fan in the first row.

Hobson was a third baseman for the Red Sox from 1975-1980. After managing the Pawtucket Red Sox for a summer, Hobson managed Boston for three seasons. Following his days with the Red Sox organization, Hobson managed the Nashua Pride, where he had a similar reaction to being ejected in 2007.
