Gus Sonnenberg shocked the wrestling world when he defeated Strangler Lewis with one of his signature "flying tackle" moves in a match at Fenway Park all the way back in 1929.

The ballpark played host to several events in 1929 including two boxing matches, which were won by Jake Zeramby and Larry "Big Boy" Rawson, as well as a Boston College football game (they tied Villanova, 7-7), and a New England Army-New England Navy football game that the Navy won, 14-12.

The Red Sox, meanwhile, finished in last place again, wrapping up a woeful decade. No player on the team had a batting average better than .300 and no pitcher was above .500 in manager Bill Carrigan's final season with Boston.
