Yankees prospect Jesus Montero won't wait long to be introduced to baseball's best rivalry, as he makes his major league debut on Thursday night against the Red Sox on Friday night.
Montero was called up on Thursday with the rosters expanding and he'll make his debut as the Yankees' designated hitter in the seventh position in the lineup. The 21-year-old will follow the 34-year-old Andruw Jones who will be in left field for the Bombers.
For the Red Sox, they'll look to take the series with second baseman Dustin Pedroia sliding back into the cleanup. It will likely be the last time Pedroia has to occupy that spot with Kevin Youkilis hopeful to return for the weekend series against the Rangers.
A.J. Burnett will look to straighten things out on the mound for the Yankees, a task that may be complicated by the fact that both Carl Crawford and David Ortiz are in the Red Sox lineup. Crawford enters the series finale with a 18 career hits off of Burnett while Ortiz has hit four home runs and driven in 11 runs off of the right-hander in his career.
