During these long World Series games, players sometimes require a bathroom break or two — that’s only natural. But with multiple cameras pointing toward the dugout at all times, they might want to make sure they’re fully situated before rejoining their teammates.
Cardinals second baseman Matt Carpenter found this out the hard way Sunday night. While FOX was interviewing Cards skipper Mike Matheny in the dugout during St. Louis’ 4-2 loss to the Red Sox, Carpenter could be seen zipping up his pants and buckling his belt as he emerged from what is likely the dugout bathroom.
A little embarrassment didn’t faze Major League Baseball’s regular-season hits leader, however. Carpenter singled twice in the loss — the only Cardinals player to record multiple hits — while scoring and driving in a run.
