Mike Wallace, Stevan RidleyFOXBORO, Mass. — The Patriots avoided another long-term injury on defense.

Kyle Arrington was taken out of the game midway through the third quarter and was deemed questionable to return by New England. Arrington’s groin injury is just a tweak though, according to a source. He was taken out of the game as a precautionary measure.

New England’s defense has already lost Jerod Mayo and Vince Wilfork for the season. Tommy Kelly and Aqib Talib missed Sunday’s game with knee and hip injuries, respectively.

Arrington took on a bigger role early in the game on Sunday with Talib out. He played well, recording two tackles and a pass breakup.
