There’s no better time for pending free agents to shine than the Stanley Cup playoffs.
The players eligible for unrestricted free agency in the summer will see their stock rise or fall based on their performance in the upcoming postseason.
We have seen many examples of players who perform at a high level in the playoffs earning massive contracts in free agency.
One of those examples is veteran center Brad Richards, who signed a nine-year, $60 million contract with the New York Rangers before the 2011-12 season. His Stanley Cup-winning experience and success as a former Conn Smythe Trophy winner played a part in New York wanting to acquire him.
