Boston Bruins first-line left winger Milan Lucic had surgery on his left wrist in May and is working hard to have it in the best shape possible when training camp begins Thursday.

Lucic has skated at a few of the team’s informal practices over the last two weeks at Ristuccia Arena in Wilmington, Mass., and he spoke to reporters about his wrist following Monday’s skate.

Lucic said during the team’s break-up day following Boston’s second-round playoff series loss to the Montreal Canadiens that he “got (his wrist) caught and jammed it in the first period” of Game 7.

But overall, the 2013-14 season was a healthy one for Lucic. He played in 80 games, the second-highest single-season total of his NHL career, and the only two contests he missed were because of the flu. Lucic hasn’t missed more than three regular-season games in a single campaign since 2009-10.

He tallied 59 points (24 goals, 35 assists) and 91 PIM last season.
