Liverpool FC and the England national team both received some bad news Friday.
Striker Daniel Sturridge suffered a thigh injury during a training session with England and will miss the Euro 2016 qualifier against Switzerland on Monday and likely Liverpool’s Champions League match against Ludogorets Razgrad on Sept. 16.
Sturridge underwent a scan, and the Daily Mirror reported that he’s expected to be sidelined for three weeks. Sturridge returned to Liverpool for treatment and tweeted that he was a “heartbroken soul.”

England manager Roy Hodgson has not called up a replacement for Sturridge to the national team.
