Bobby Robins is one interesting guy.

The journeyman forward — who made the Boston Bruins’ opening night roster this season — perhaps is the best example of how hockey players can be entirely different people on and off the ice.

On Tuesday’s episode of “Behind the B” on NESN, Robins was mic’d up during a preseason game against the Washington Capitals. Viewers saw both sides of Robins. Off the ice, he’s a well-spoken, kind guy, which was on display as he skated off the ice after warmups and handed a puck to a young fan.

On the ice, though, Robins is a tough customer who doesn’t back down from anyone, as backed up by his 681 penalty minutes over the last three AHL seasons. Against the Capitals, Robins quickly dropped the gloves with Liam O’Brien. Later in the game, Robins certainly seemed ready to go when he was yelling at Washington’s Jason Chimera from the bench.
