USATSI_8118119_168381014_lowresFrom amazing saves to glorious goals, the NHL provides a constant highlight reel of spectacular moments. Soon, fans will be able to watch these kinds of plays from the players’ points of view.

Starting Oct. 8, the NHL will use footage from GoPro cameras in promotional campaigns for the new season. The new deal will allow the footage to be implemented in game telecasts, illustrating the various skills of the league’s stars from a first-person POV.  NBC Sports and Rogers are the networks with rights to the GoPro technology, along with NHL Network and NHL.com.

Players seem to welcome the idea of finally having GoPro cameras on the ice.

“It can definitely help the game become even more interesting for the viewer, no question,” New York Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist told AdWeek.

If hockey didn’t excite you enough already, the chance to see the playmaking abilities of NHL stars from their point of view should give you a reason to tune in on game days.
