The Arizona Coyotes self-destructed in the worst way possible Tuesday night.
Not only did the Coyotes squander a three-goal lead, allowing the Colorado Avalanche to force overtime, but they also allowed Danny Briere to wrap things up with one of the easiest game-winners you’ll ever see.
As you can see in the video, Briere’s centering pass to Zach Redmond instead hit off the stick of Coyotes forward Martin Hanzal, who inadvertently deflected the puck right past goalie Mike Smith and into his own net for a 4-3 Avalanche win.
The inauspicious ending dropped Arizona to 3-5-2 in its last 10 games.
