Rajon RondoThe Boston Celtics spent a whole lot of time getting to know each other Friday night.

Team captain Rajon Rondo told reporters Saturday that upon arriving in Houston, he and his Celtics teammates enjoyed a three-hour dinner together.

“I think this is where the camaraderie comes together and you become a close team,” Rondo said, via Celtics.com. “It wasn’t an official team dinner (Friday), but we went to eat and we had a good team-bonding dinner. It took about three hours. It was a great dinner.”

The Celtics’ roster has seen a tremendous amount of turnover over the past few years. Ten of their 15 players are in either their first or second season with the team. This year’s crop of Celtics player also is a very youthful bunch, which, Rondo says, makes events like Friday’s dinner all the more important.

“We don’t have too many stiff guys like Gerald (Wallace), older guys that are set in their ways,” Rondo joked. “Everybody’s young and can be molded, and what better way than to have dinner with food?”

The Celtics will take on the Rockets on Saturday night and the Dallas Mavericks on Monday before returning home.
