Basel Trolls Liverpool On Instagram For Champions League Failure (Photo)

The people at Basel FC have jokes.

Basel’s secured passage to the knockout rounds of the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday with 1-1 draw against Liverpool at Anfield. Basel’s progression came at Liverpool’s expense, and the Swiss club celebrated by sharing a provocative cartoon on its Instagram account shortly after the end of the game.

The photo featured a Chelsea player and a Tottenham player carrying a wobbly Liverpool player off the field. The Premier League rivals comfort the Liverpool player with the Reds’ iconic slogan.

Basel quickly deleted the image from its account.

Basel knockout Tottenham out of the UEFA Europa League in 2012-13 and twice beat Chelsea in last season’s Champions League.

Basel also knocked Manchester United out of the Champions League in 2011 but didn’t include the Red Devils in Tuesday’s barb.
