Andrew Miller Signs Four-Year Yankees Contract Reportedly Worth $36M

Andrew Miller is taking another stop in the American League East.

The New York Yankees signed the left-handed reliever Friday to a four-year deal, which YES Network reported is worth $36 million. Miller spent parts of four seasons with the Boston Red Sox before being dealt to the Baltimore Orioles at this season’s non-waiver trade deadline.

Miller missed most of the Red Sox’s World Series-winning season in 2013 because of a foot injury, but he came back lights out in 2014. Between Boston and Baltimore, the southpaw compiled a 2.02 ERA with a 0.80 WHIP and 103 strikeouts. He also boasted a ridiculous 14.9 strikeouts per nine innings.

The addition certainly makes the Yankees’ bullpen deadlier, as they already have a right-handed phenom in All-Star and Rookie of the Year candidate Dellin Betances.

As for the Red Sox, there’s at least one person who won’t be looking forward to facing Miller on a regular basis next season. Designated hitter David Ortiz gave these sentiments about Miller in the Dominican Republic on Thursday.
