The New England Patriots have the best record in the NFL, but only five players were honored with Pro Bowl selections.
Quarterback Tom Brady, tight end Rob Gronkowski, kicker Stephen Gostkowski, special teams ace Matthew Slater and cornerback Darrelle Revis were selected to the 2015 Pro Bowl, which takes place on January 25 at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz., the site of Super Bowl XLIX.
Safety Devin McCourty and linebackers Jamie Collins and Dont’a Hightower were among Patriots snubbed for the All-Star game who were deserving of the honor.
The Broncos lead all teams with nine Pro Bowl selections, including former Patriots cornerback Aqib Talib.
Players are voted into the game via a three-way vote between players, fans and coaches. Gronkowski and Gostkowski led fan votes at their positions. Brady garnered the third-most fan votes of any player in the NFL.
This is Brady’s 10th Pro Bowl selection, Gronk’s third, Gostkowski’s third, Slater’s fourth and Revis’ sixth.
If the Patriots make the Super Bowl, their players won’t play in the Pro Bowl. The Pro Bowl rosters will be picked fantasy-style by captains Michael Irvin and Cris Carter.
