WILMINGTON, Mass. — Malcolm Subban returned to the Boston Bruins on Friday and practiced with the team as the second goaltender along with starter Tuukka Rask.

The reigning AHL Player of the Week was recalled Friday from the Providence Bruins, but he doesn’t know if he’ll get any game action with the NHL club. Subban said the plan is for him to stay for the weekend, which includes a game against the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday, and then “see what happens.”

Backup netminder Niklas Svedberg was sent down to the P-Bruins on a conditioning loan Friday. B’s head coach Claude Julien said the move will allow Svedberg to get some playing time. Julien labeled it as a “weekend thing” but also noted the plan could change. Svedberg’s last start was three weeks ago in a win over the New Jersey Devils on Jan. 8.

The Bruins face a difficult challenge against the defending Stanley Cup champion Kings, who are fighting for a playoff spot in ninth place in the Western Conference. The Kings earned an impressive 4-3 comeback win over the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday, and Julien expects a “big, heavy game” when Los Angeles hits the TD Garden ice Saturday night.

Here are the lines used at Friday’s practice. They remained unchanged from Thursday night’s 5-2 win over the New York Islanders.
