Finding another job might be the least of Andre Braithwaite’s worries.

Braithwaite, formerly a defender on Major Arena Soccer League’s Missouri Comets, headbutted Baltimore Blast captain Pat Healey in the face Sunday immediately following Baltimore’s 10-7 win in the Eastern Conference Championship.

The Comets cut Braithwaite immediately afterward.

Healey suffered a 2-inch gash on his forehead, prompting expected outrage from his organization.

“You win with class and you lose with class,” Blast coach Danny Kelly said, according to the Kansas City Star. “They obviously didn’t lose with class. From what Harris did, what Braithwaite did, it’s a black eye for their team and for the league. It’s just gutless behavior.”

Blast owner Ed Hale said Braithwaite’s headbutt sparked a “full-blown riot” and vowed to press criminal charges against him, according to Kansas City television station KSHB- 41.

Baltimore said Monday that Healey is recovering and will be available to play against the Monterrey Flash on Friday in the first leg of the MASL final.

Braithwaite’s on- and off-field futures are uncertain.
