Spare a thought for Hull City and Ireland midfielder Robbie Brady.

Brady could miss the rest of the 2014-15 season due to an injury he suffered in the bizzarest of circumstances. Brady fell down a hole last Friday during practice at Hull City’s facility. He suffered a calf injury during the fall that will sideline him for up to six weeks, according to Sky Sports.

Hull City manager Steve Bruce confirmed Brady’s freak injury Monday.

“Unfortunately Brady has fallen down a hole in the training ground and it looks an awful injury, I have to say,” Bruce said at his press conference ahead of Tuesday’s Premier League game against Sunderland. “We won’t know the extent of it until he has had scans. After seeing him on Friday I doubt he will be available for weeks. It could be the rest of the season.”

Brady, 23, is a key part of a Hull City team, which is fighting for Premier League survival. Hull City currently sits 15th in the standings with 26 points after 27 games. Hull City’s relegation scrap will be tougher without Brady, who has started 19 league games this season.

No one has said publicly exactly how Brady fell into the hole, the size of the hole or what it was doing at Hull City’s practice facility.

For now, we’ll just have to add Brady to the list of soccer’s strangest injuries and hope he returns before the season ends in late May.
