Petr Mrazek made the save of the Stanley Cup playoffs Monday night.

The Detroit Red Wings goaltender and his team already trailed 2-0 in the second period when Tampa Bay Lightning forward Brian Boyle had a wide-open chance to extend that lead.

We don’t know how Mrazek did this, and won’t attempt to put this into words. Just watch.

Incredible… But it might only be the save of the NHL playoffs.

That’s because Calgary Flames goaltender Jon Gillies, then with Providence College, might have Mrazek beat with his save in the NCAA national championship game vs. Boston University.

Either way, somewhere Tim Thomas is smiling.

Unfortunately, Mrazek’s effort wasn’t enough, as the Lightning forced a Game 7 by pushing four goals past him en route to a 5-2 win.
