The Boston Red Sox added another bullpen arm Saturday by recalling right-handed relief pitcher Matt Barnes from Triple-A Pawtucket, the team announced.

Infielder Travis Shaw was assigned to the PawSox to make room for Barnes on the major league roster.

Barnes was recalled earlier this season on April 25, pitching two scoreless innings of relief in a 5-4 loss to the Baltimore Orioles on that same day. He was optioned back to Pawtucket the following day.

Shaw was recalled for Friday’s game against the Toronto Blue Jays. He went 0-for-2 with a walk in his debut for Boston.

The Red Sox and Blue Jays continue their weekend series Saturday afternoon at Rogers Centre in Toronto.
