Zack Greinke Unleashes Awesome Bat Flip After Hitting Home Run (Video)

Things got weird Thursday afternoon in Philadelphia.

The Phillies hosted the Los Angeles Dodgers in what seemed to be a gigantic mismatch, at least on paper. Philadelphia came into the game with the 28th-most runs scored in Major League Baseball this season. Zack Greinke — who started the day with a majors-leading, microscopic 1.41 ERA — started for the Dodgers.

The game, as they say, is not played on paper, though. That’s the only way to explain the fact that the Phillies touched up Greinke for five runs through the game’s first two innings. However, that might not have been the weirdest thing that happened. The strangest feat might have come when Greinke had a bat in his hand.

Greinke helped his cause in the top of the third inning when he came to the plate and promptly hit his first home run of the season. The home run was great, but it paled in comparison to what followed. As part of the home run, Greinke unleashed a pretty savage bat flip to celebrate.

This isn’t anything new for Greinke. While it was his first home run of the season, it wasn’t his first bat flip. He did a little lumber-tossing earlier this season when hitting a double against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Just because, here’s a crazy stat from Thursday’s game, courtesy of the appropriately named “You Can’t Predict Baseball” Twitter account:
