Andrew Benintendi has demolished minor league pitching since the Boston Red Sox drafted the outfielder in the first round (No. 7 overall) out of the University of Arkansas back in June.

The 21-year-old outfielder showed Thursday night he also has a flair for the dramatic.

Benintendi crushed a walk-off home run for the Red Sox’s Single-A affiliate in Greenville. The Drive trailed by a run in the ninth inning when Benintendi smoked a two-run homer over the right field fence to give his team a 6-5 win over the Savannah Sand Gnats.

Benintendi (Boston’s No. 6 prospect, according to MLB.com) is hitting .328 (20-for-61) with four homers, 14 RBIs and a .982 OPS in 15 games for Greenville. He entered Friday hitting .303 with 11 homers, 29 RBIs, nine stolen bases and a .959 OPS in 50 games between Greenville and Single-A Lowell.

The Red Sox probably feel pretty good right now about their highly touted draft pick.
