UPDATE (9:10 P.M. ET): Zack Greinke’s six-year contract with the Diamondbacks is for $206 million, according to FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal.

ORIGINAL STORY: The Arizona Diamondbacks already have secured the most shocking move of the MLB offseason.

Free agent right-handed pitcher Zack Greinke has agreed to a contract with the Diamondbacks, pending a physical, sources told FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal. While no financials have been reported, the deal is for six years, according to CBS Sports’ Jon Heyman.

This is a shocking turn of events, as both the Los Angeles Dodgers, his former team, and the San Francisco Giants were considered the frontrunners to land Greinke. Instead, it was the mystery third team that swooped in to land the highly coveted free agent.

The 32-year-old is coming off a tremendous season for the Dodgers. He came in second in the National League Cy Young Award race after posting a 19-3 record and a 1.66 ERA.
