The NCAA Tournament hasn’t been kind to No. 6 seeds this year, and Northern Iowa would like to keep that trend going.

The No. 11 seed scored an upset in both 6-11 matchups Thursday, with Wichita State and Gonzaga both emerging victorious. Now the Northern Iowa Panthers, who edged Wichita State in overtime en route to a Missouri Valley Conference title, hopes to knock off No. 6 Texas in West Region action.

The battle-tested Longhorns went 20-12 this season behind first-year coach Shaka Smart but lost to Baylor in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 Tournament.

Tip-off in Oklahoma City is scheduled for 9:50 p.m. ET.
