Home team Deportivo Tachira wasn’t even the biggest winner on Tuesday at Estadio Polideportivo de Pueblo Nuevo in Venezuela. Man’s best friend claims that prize.

A dog ran onto the field and interrupted the Copa Libertadores (South American championship) Round of 16 game between Deportivo Tachira and Mexico’s UNAM Pumas. Happy-go-lucky barely begins to describe the dog, who wanted to befriend every player in sight, especially Pumas goalkeeper Alejandro Palacios.

The dog’s antics delayed the game for 30 seconds in the first half before Pumas defender Gerardo Alcoba carried the grateful pup off the field.

Deportivo Tachira went on to win the game 1-0.
