The Boston Red Sox tweaked their bullpen before their series opener against the Tampa Bay Rays at Fenway Park.

The Red Sox announced Tuesday that they’ve recalled right-hander Heath Hembree from Triple-A Pawtucket. To make room on the active roster, Boston optioned fellow right-hander Noe Ramirez to the PawSox.

Ramirez made the Red Sox’s opening day roster this season for the first time in his career. The 26-year-old posted a 4.91 ERA (four earned runs over 7 1/3 innings) in six appearances before being demoted. A fourth-round selection in 2011, Ramirez had a 4.15 ERA in 13 innings over 17 appearances with the Red Sox last season, which marked his first taste of major league action.

Hembree, who was acquired from the San Francisco Giants in the July 2014 trade that sent Jake Peavy to the Bay Area, made 28 relief appearances with Boston in 2014 and 2015. The hard-throwing righty posted a 3.82 ERA over 35 1/3 innings in those appearances. He began this season with four scoreless appearances at Pawtucket in which he struck out nine and earned two saves.
