Hawks’ Twitter Account Trolls Own Team In Historic Loss To Cavs

If you can’t make fun of yourself, who can you make fun of, right?

That’s the mindset whoever is in charge of the Atlanta Hawks’ social media had Wednesday night, as the Hawks endured a historic beatdown at the hands of the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 2 of their second-round playoff series.

The Cavs abused the Hawks in every way in the contest but were especially lethal from behind the arc, hitting an NBA-record 25 3-pointers en route to a 123-98 shellacking.

Eighteen of those threes came in the first half — another NBA record — and Atlanta’s Twitter account channeled the sentiments of Hawks Nation during an almost unimaginably bad 24 minutes for its basketball team.

The Hawks, who trailed 74-38 at the half and never threatened the rest of the way, now have lost six consecutive playoff games to the Cavs, including a Cleveland sweep in last year’s Eastern Conference finals. Atlanta will look to snap that streak Friday on its home floor in Game 3.
