BOSTON — Jackie Bradley Jr. officially is more than halfway to breaking Joe DiMaggio’s longstanding hitting streak.

The Boston Red Sox’s center fielder extended his streak to 29 games Wednesday night in the bottom of the fourth inning against the Colorado Rockies. Bradley hit another first-pitch fastball, this time off Rockies starter Chad Bettis to left field for a single.

Earlier, Xander Bogaerts extended his hitting streak to 18 consecutive games after launching a home run over Fenway Park’s Green Monster. The 18-game streak is the second-longest in baseball this season, behind only Bradley. Hanley Ramirez also extended his on-base streak to 29 consecutive starts when he drew a walk.

JBJ’s 29th consecutive game with a hit is tied with Johnny Damon for the fourth-longest streak in Red Sox history. He’s five games away from tying Dom DiMaggio’s Red Sox record of 34 consecutive games.
