Oilers Trade Left Wing Taylor Hall To Devils For Defenseman Adam Larsson

The Edmonton Oilers and New Jersey Devils completed a blockbuster less than 48 hours from NHL free agency.

TSN’s Ryan Rishaug was the first to report Wednesday that Taylor Hall had been traded by Oilers. Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported soon after that it was a one-for-one swap for Devils defenseman Adam Larsson.

The Oilers later confirmed the trade.

Hall, of course, is one of the best left wingers in the NHL. One could make the case that Alexander Ovechkin and Jamie Benn are the only better players at the position.

Trading him straight up for Larsson, who hasn’t performed to the level expected of a former No. 4 overall draft pick, should go down as one of the worst deals in league history.
