Red Sox Pull Ahead Of Rays On Wild Play At Home Plate In Extra Innings

The Boston Red Sox might never lose another game at this point.

Boston pulled ahead of the Tampa Bay Rays in the 10th inning Sunday on a play that … well, we don’t even really know what to call it. With Dustin Pedroia on first base, David Ortiz doubled, and the second baseman was sent home. It wasn’t the best call by third base coach Brian Butterfield, but some way, somehow, Pedroia was able to evade Rays catcher Luke Maile’s tag and score.

It wasn’t pretty, but a run is a run, and it was enough to give the Red Sox a 3-2 victory for their 11th straight win.
