You don’t have to go all winter without America’s pastime because the Boston Red Sox are hosting yet another “Baseball Winter Weekend.”
The third annual event, which allows fans to interact with Red Sox brass and players, will take place at Foxwoods Resort and Casino in Mashantucket, Conn., from Friday, Jan. 20, to Sunday, Jan. 22. There will be activities for kids along with hot stove-centric panels and discussions, so it’s an event for the whole family.
Winter Weekend kicks off Friday with an introduction of the participating players, followed by a town hall meeting with Red Sox owners and leaders where fans will get the chance to ask questions. That event will air on NESN on Sunday, Jan. 22, at 8 p.m. ET.
On Saturday fans can get autographs and take pictures with players and check out a variety of Red Sox hardware, including the three World Series trophies, Gold Glove Awards, Silver Slugger Awards, MVPs and Cy Young awards. There also will be a bunch of activities such as a pitching booth, indoor Wiffle ball, various one-hour panels and a chance to meet Red Sox mascots Wally and Tessie. Saturday’s events will air live on NESN beginning at 9 a.m. ET.
Winter Weekend finishes out Sunday with a Wally and Tessie-themed breakfast for kids and families that also will include some of the Green Monsters’ mascot buddies and kids’ baseball clinics conducted by Red Sox coaches and alumni.
Weekend passes, which include options for accommodations, can be purchased at redsox.com/winterweekend. Tickets are $60 for adults, $20 for children 14 and under and free for children 3 and under. Season ticket holders can purchase adult tickets for $50 and kids’ tickets for $15, tickets for Wally and Tessie’s breakfast are limited. All Red Sox players are invited, and you can check the Winter Weekend website periodically to see who’s confirmed their attendance.
