The 2017 season was the first in New England for both Stephon Gilmore and Brandin Cooks. Now, it appears only one of them will be returning to the Patriots for the 2018 campaign.
The Patriots sent shockwaves around the football world Tuesday night when they reportedly dealt Cooks to the Los Angeles Rams. Mere seconds after the news broke, Gilmore took to Twitter to express his feelings about the star wide receiver leaving town.
I’m sad now

While Gilmore might be sad about the blockbuster trade, New England likely is happy with the return it received from Los Angeles. In dealing Cooks and a 2018 fourth-round pick to the Rams, the Patriots acquired the No. 23 overall pick in this year’s draft, as well as a sixth-round selection.
Gilmore also can find solace in the fact that even with Cooks out of the fold, the Patriots likely still will be among the Super Bowl favorites for the upcoming season.
