FOX Broadcast Definitely Thought Aaron Judge Hit 61st Home Run Vs. Red Sox

We also thought it had a chance

There is a lot of excitement surrounding Aaron Judge as he sits on the verge of tying and breaking the American League home run record.

Judge sits one homer shy of Roger Maris’ record, and the Yankees slugger has a chance to reach the milestone against New York’s storied rival, the Boston Red Sox.

The teams’ series kicked off Thursday night and Judge came to the plate in the bottom of the ninth inning with the score tied 4-4. Couldn’t script it better, right?

Well, if you were watching the game, you probably thought Judge hit No. 61 by the way the FOX broadcast reacted when he took a 2-2 pitch from Matt Barnes to center field.

“Aaron Judge! Center field! Way back!,”  Adam Amin yelled. “But (Kiké) Hernandez is there.”

To be fair to those at home, the camera work made it seem like the ball was sent to the moon.

The Yankees ended up winning 5-4 in 10 innings, punching their ticket to the 2022 postseason. Boston’s biggest win during a night it was eliminated from postseason contention was not giving up a homer to Judge.

The series continues Friday night and Judge has three more games against the Red Sox to try to make history. First pitch from Yankee Stadium is set for 7:05 p.m. ET. Friday’s game will air on Apple TV+.
