Clemson men's basketball coach Oliver Purnell is leaving the Tigers and heading to the Windy City to take the reigns at DePaul.
Purnell has agreed to a seven-year deal that will pay him more than the $1.6 million salary he was making with Clemson, reports ESPN.com.
"DePaul presents a great opportunity," Purnell told the Web site Tuesday morning. "It's a super job. They are very, very committed to restoring a tradition and make DePaul Chicago's team."
The Blue Demons finished the 2009-10 season 8-23 overall and last in the Big East with a 1-17 record under interim coach Tracy Webster.
Meanwhile, Purnell led Clemson (21-10) to the 2010 NCAA tournament, where the Tigers lost in the first round to Missouri.
