The Boston Bruins stumbled out of the All-Star break with a 4-3 overtime loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday, but can extend their current winning streak on the road to four games Thursday when they visit the Buffalo Sabres as -155 betting favorites at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.

Thursday night’s Bruins vs. Sabres betting matchup at First Niagara Center is the first of back-to-back contests between the Atlantic Division rivals and wraps up the season series, with each team claiming a road victory in two prior meetings.

A win keeps Boston in the thick of the race in the Atlantic Division standings, where it remains deadlocked with the Detroit Red Wings at 58 points, two points back of the Tampa Bay Lightning, and seven back of the first-place Florida Panthers.

The Bruins have regained lost ground from their brutal 2-8 run, winning five of their past eight, including their current 3-0 run on the road which kicked off with a 4-1 victory over the Sabres in Buffalo on Jan. 15.

Boston’s strong play also has lifted its odds to win the Stanley Cup from 33-1 to a respectable 25-1 at the sportsbooks.

The Sabres return home to face Boston following a 4-2 victory against the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday night, wrapping up a three-game road swing that started on Jan. 25.

Buffalo has struggled to find the win column in recent home dates, claiming victory in just one of its past eight, and has tallied a league-low 20 points on home ice this season.

The Sabres, though, have begun to show signs of life, scoring three or more goals in six of their past 10 outings, after scoring just eight total goals during a six-game losing streak. However, they have struggled when hosting the Bruins, who have posted wins in their last three trips to Western New York, outscoring Buffalo by an 11-3 margin, according to the OddsShark NHL Database.

The two clubs get reacquainted again Saturday when the Sabres arrive in town looking for their third straight victory at TD Garden.

Following their home-and-home series with Buffalo, the Bruins await a visit from the Los Angeles Kings next Tuesday before embarking on a six-game, 10-day road trip which may hold serious implications for their hopes of returning to the NHL postseason.

While the Bruins are a solid 5-1 in road games sandwiched between home dates, they have failed to post wins in consecutive road contests since late November, going 4-7 overall this season on road trips of three or more games.
