The Chicago Bears will be without their best offensive player for the next four games after wide receiver Alshon Jeffery tested positive for taking a supplement on the NFL’s banned substance list.
Jeffery released a statement Monday night, in which he apologized and revealed the cause of the failed test.

The 26-year-old wideout has 43 receptions on 73 targets for 630 yards and one touchdown through nine games this season.
The Bears are 2-7 after losing to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.
Jeffery’s suspension will cause him to miss Chicago’s upcoming games against the New York Giants, Tennessee Titans, San Francisco 49ers and Detroit Lions. His absence could open up more opportunities for the rest of the receiving corps, most notably wideout Cameron Meredith.
Jeffery will be eligible to return for the Bears’ Week 15 matchup with the rival Green Bay Packers.
