The Red Sox pitching rotation seems to be full of more rumors than reality.
The thoughts of Daniel Bard's triumphant return to the bullpen seem to be fading faster and faster with each quality start he makes. The talk of Felix Doubront as a mediocre option at the No. 4 spot also appears to be a severe misrepresentation. But while the staff gets strongs, it looks like Boston may be headed for quite the conundrum.
Aaron Cook's appearance on the Red Sox depth chart has already begun to crowd Boston's rotation, as the starter will join the rotation on Saturday. Although his timing couldn't be better, as a still physically reeling Josh Beckett is in need of a day off.
Cook's outing on Saturday could either further complicate or ease decisions in the rotation, depending on the type of performance delivered. But just as things should be getting hashed out at the end of May, Daisuke Matsuzaka is expected to make his own return to the roster.
