Are the Boston Red Sox the best team in Major League Baseball?
That’s what Ricky Doyle and Dakota Randall were left to ponder on the latest edition of the “NESN Red Sox Podcast” after both ESPN.com and MLB.com bumped the Red Sox to the top spot in their respective MLB power rankings ahead of Boston’s three-game series against the Los Angeles Angels.
The Red Sox have won 14 of their first 16 games — losing only on Opening Day and the game in which they brawled with the New York Yankees — and they’re thriving in a variety of ways. But is that enough to already crown them the team to beat? What more does Boston need to show?
Ricky and Dakota also looked at Shohei Ohtani’s future (both in the short term and long term) and whether Mookie Betts got screwed in ESPN’s top 100 players rankings.
