The first big events of the jam-packed 2021 soccer calendar are in the books.

The first took place of the field, as Palmeiras took on River Plate and Boca Juniors faced Santos on Tuesday and Wednesday night, respectively, in the second legs of their CONMEBOL Copa Libertadores semifinals series. To say it was madness is an understatement. The second notable event happened off the field in the form of the 2021 NWSL Draft.

On this week’s episode of the “NESN Soccer Podcast,” Marc DiBenedetto and Marcus Kwesi O’Mard explain why Trinity Rodman, daughter of NBA legend Dennis Rodman, headlined the NWSL and why River Plate and the other sides continued the Copa Libertadores’ tradition of producing must-see action.
