Tuukka Rask Could Someday Pass the Torch to Malcolm Subban in Bruins' Net (Podcast)The Bruins stunned a lot of fans by nabbing a goaltender in the first round of this year’s NHL draft. Throw in the fact that they drafted the brother of hated rival P.K. Subban, and the move was downright shocking to most.

In reality, though, the move actually makes plenty of sense for Boston, especially considering how unpredictable the goaltending market can be from year to year. Malcolm Subban — who the B’s selected with the 24th overall pick in the draft — still has five or six years of development ahead of him, but Tuukka Rask could eventually pass the torch to Subban. That would be similar to what the B’s have had when it comes to Rask and Tim Thomas in recent years, with Thomas serving as the torch passer in that instance.

NESN.com NHL insider Douglas Flynn caught up with Ricky Doyle to discuss Subban’s future, as well as the Bruins’ other draft selections and the team’s recent development camp.

And while Boston probably won’t be busy in terms of free agency this offseason, other teams will most certainly be, meaning there was a lot more to talk about on the latest edition of the NESN.com podcast.

Among the other NHL topics addressed were Carey Price‘s new contract, Jaromir Jagr‘s desire to get paid, the very active Dallas Stars and the futures of Zach Parise and Ryan Suter.
