Oklahoma lost reigning Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Sam Bradford to a right shoulder injury for the second time this season on Saturday. Bradford left the game early in the first quarter after being jerked down by Longhorns cornerback Aaron Williams and did not return as the Sooners lost 16-13.
“Don’t know what the outlook is right now,” Bradford told ESPN.com after the game. “[I] want to talk to the doctors, find out exactly what’s wrong with it and make a decision. It’s hard to put into words the frustration I feel right now.”
Although Bradford was tackled around the waist, he fell on his shoulder and immediately appeared to be in intense pain. He was replaced by backup Landry Jones, who started three games this season while Bradford recovered from a sprained AC joint in the same shoulder.
Against Texas, Jones was 24-of-43 for 250 yards and threw interceptions on his final two drives.
Bradford returned for last week’s win over Baylor and threw for 389 yards. After leading the nation with 50 touchdown passes in 2008, the senior chose to forego the NFL draft in the hopes of making another run at the national championship, which the Sooners lost to Florida last season.
