According to The Associated Press, the shoe company owes $40 million “to settle charges by the Federal Trade Commission that the footwear company made unfounded claims that its Shape-ups shoes would help people lose weight and strengthen their butt, leg and stomach muscles.”
The shoes were designed with a “rocker” sole that was supposed to promote weight loss and enhance muscle strength. The toning shoes cost about $100. Check out a couple of its ads below.
