The Baltimore Orioles may not have won the World Series, but somone in O's gear did win a World Series.
Greg Merson took home the $8.53 million purse at the 2012 World Series of Poker on Wednesday, beating out Jesse Sylvia with king high on the final hand. The 24-year-old Merson outlasted 6,597 contestants in the main event, and the final table was whittled down from nine to just one over the course of a 12-hour marathon poker session.
Wearing Baltimore Orioles shirts for most of the tournament's final days — including an Adam Jones jersey for the final one — Merson even earned a shout-out from the O's outfielder before his big night.
Check out a photo of Merson's outfit in a photo taken with of the last three players standing.
