Tom Cruise and Robert Duvall have entertained fans around the world for decades. On Sunday, it was their turn to kick back and watch.
The two actors were on hand at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester, England, to see the much-anticipated derby between Manchester City and Manchester United. The Premier League’s two top teams met for the first time this season, and the stars came out for the show.
Cruise and Duvall strolled around the field before the game, taking in the sights and sounds of Manchester. They also gave an interesting interview with Sky Sports.
Cruise joked that his good friend David Beckham was jealous because he wasn’t able to attend the game. He then went on to boast about Beckham’s glorious end to his L.A. Galaxy career, as Duvall looked on in bewilderment.
“He wishes he was here. … He’s in [Los Angeles],” Cruise said.
Duvall, the noted on-screen manager from the film A Shot at Glory, wouldn’t dare predict the result of the Manchester derby.
“I don’t know,” he said. “Flip a coin. They’re both great teams.”
Cruise and Duvall are in England for the premier of Cruise’s film Jack Reacher.
United prevailed 3-2 thanks to a Robin van Persie goal during second-half injury time.
