Ras-I Dowling, Adrian Wilson Among Defensive Winners of Patriots’ Offseason
When Ray Lewis takes the field for the Ravens in next Sunday’s Super Bowl, it will be the first time the linebacker has faced coach Jim Harbaugh‘s San Francisco 49ers. But it won’t be the first time Lewis has faced Harbaugh.
In fact, the first sack of the future Hall of Famer’s career came against the man who now coaches the Niners, as seen in this video from NFL.com (via USA Today).
Lewis was a rookie for the Ravens, who had just moved to Baltimore from Cleveland before the season, and Harbaugh was the Indianapolis Colts’ quarterback a year removed from a Pro Bowl season.
You can tell — judging by the high-tops and Astroturf — that this sack took place way back in 1996, but Lewis was already working on his celebration dances, giving a little shimmy for the crowd after knocking Harbaugh to the turf.
The two even became teammates for a season in 1998, as Harbaugh spent a year with the Ravens toward the end of his playing career.
Even with everything Bernard Pollard has done to the Patriots over the years, we have to admit that this is pretty cute.
