Report: Brian Kelly Met With Eagles After BCS National Championship Game

Brian KellyApparently the Philadelphia Eagles are only interested in college coaches named Kelly raised in New England.

After being spurned by Chip Kelly of Oregon, the Eagles are now pursuing Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly, according to ESPN.com. The two sides met after the Fighting Irish lost to Alabama in the BCS national championship game and plan to meet again once Kelly is back from a vacation out of the country.

Kelly has been with Notre Dame since 2010. He’s amounted a 28-11 record with the Fighting Irish, including a 12-1 record in 2012. Kelly has never held a job in the NFL, but he’s been a head coach in the college ranks since 1991.

The Everett, Mass., native has served as head coach of Grand Valley State, Central Michigan and Cincinnati prior to his tenure with Notre Dame. His career head coaching record isĀ 199-67-2.
