The Northeastern University women’s hockey team will defend their Beanpot trophy after upsetting No. 3 Boston University 4-1 Tuesday night.
Right from the outset the Huskies built a comfortable lead as a result of goals from sophomore forward Kendall Coyne and fourth-year forward Kasey Pickett. Coyne’s three goals were too much for the Terriers to handle as she captured her third hat trick in the past three games.
BU, who was shut down the whole game, got its only spark on the night when sophomore defensewoman Caroline Campbell connected with first-year forward Jordan Juron.
The Huskies will go head-to-head with No. 2 Boston College in the Beanpot championship Feb. 12 in Matthews Arena at 8 p.m.
