A little snow never hurt hockey fans — especially not those who have been waiting for Wednesday’s Winter Classic between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Detroit Red Wings for some time.
While some Winter Classic watchers were wary of the annual treat being delayed by the snow that hit the Ann Arbor, Mich., area Tuesday evening, other hockey supporters welcomed the white hue as they would any other snow drift throughout the year, shoveling out and grabbing the grills for the big game. Maple Leafs and Red Wings fans could be seen tailgating outside Michigan’s Big House as early as 7 a.m. Wednesday, according to reports.
The game, scheduled for 1 p.m., is expected to start on time despite the snow, according to the NHL.
