Sandy Koufax Hit In Head By Line Drive At Dodgers Spring Training (Photo)

Hall of Fame pitcher Sandy Koufax was hit in the head by a line drive off the bat of Andre Ethier at Los Angeles Dodgers spring training camp in Arizona on Friday.

Koufax was standing near the bullpen when the foul ball struck him, and although he suffered a cut and was bleeding, he remained on his feet, Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times reports. The three-time National League Cy Young Award winner was seen smiling as trainers helped him inside for further examination.

The 78-year-old is a special assistant to Dodgers owner Mark Walter. Koufax has informally worked with pitchers at Dodgers spring training for the past two seasons.
